Discussion about Jiri.Ceiver - Jig, Amble & Lisp
Puchock
Jiri.Ceiver’s second (and final) album for Harthouse, _Jig, Amble and Lisp_, continues his abstract acid vein – indeed, “Valve” would not have sounded out of place on _Head.Phon_ with its mix of strangeness and aggression. “Poke” seems as restless as a hyperactive child full of sugar, while “Stitch” has a twitchy intensity. “Fastloom” zips by without a pause to let you catch your breath until towards the end. There’s the strange vocal sample that recurs through “Miller,” which could almost be a Scanner track in its voyeurism. This album has fewer interstitals (with the notable exception of the completely abstract “Pigeons.Osl” and “Gt.Bosse”) but offers up instead relatively quieter moments that could almost be classified as trip-hop: the smoky loop of “Ttsys (Me4u)” or the sparse “C. A. T.” The strangely funky “Ycool” is a bass-driven jazz track, which seems to come out of nowhere, but somehow makes sense on this twisted but awesome album.
